Magic Domain

Deities of Magic govern the art of spellcasting, magic items, artifacts, and the study of magic in general. This oversight is purely intellectual and is done without judgement for how magic is used or to what purpose it is put. Deities of Magic may also be interested in obscure knowledge or in religious matters where magic is involved or used.

Channel Divinity: Arcane Beacon
Starting at 2nd level, you can use your Channel Divinity to create an Arcane Beacon centered on you with a radius of 15ft. This beacon lasts until the end of your next turn. The next qualifying spell anyone casts within the radius of the active Arcane Beacon uses a spell slot one level lower than the actual spell slot required for the spell provided that the spellcaster has both a suitable lower-level spell slot available and a spell slot of the otherwise required level available. If either of these conditions are not met, the Arcane Beacon does not function for that caster but remains available for use by another until it expires. A spell cannot be affected by more than one Arcane Beacon. Should this situation arise, the caster determines which Arcane Beacon affects the spell as it is cast. The Arcane Beacon has no effect on cantrips cast within its confines.

The Arcane Beacon only affects spells of a certain level, depending on the level of the cleric providing the Beacon. A cleric’s Arcane Beacon can only affect a spell that is half the level of the cleric creating the Beacon, rounded down (A 2nd level cleric can only affect a 1st level spell, a 5th level cleric can affect a 2nd level spell or lower while 12th level cleric can affect a 6th level spell or lower). In the special case of a first level spell being cast within the confines of a Beacon, the spell does not consume a spell slot at all since a first level spell cannot have its spell slot costs reduced below 1 (e.g. there are no 0th level slots to consume instead). In this special case, the caster must still have a level 1 spell slot available just prior to making use of the Beacon.
